How does a home measurement or floorplan service work?

During a measurement service, a certified appraiser takes measurements of your home with a measuring tool — generally a tape or laser measuring device. As they tour the home, they make note of the layout of the rooms and other features, like closets, hallways, and pantries. They might sketch out the property. Then, the appraiser develops a report and detailed floorplan showing the total area of the house and the general layout.
